About Carlos Adan
Carlos was born in Mexico City and emigrated to the US as a teenager. He attended the University of Texas and MIT, earning bachelor, master and Ph.D. degrees in computer science.
Carlos discovered painting in 2014 and fell in love with the genre of realism. He has primary studied under Carl Dobsky at the Safehouse Atelier in downtown Los Angeles, as well as with other prominent realist artists including Tony Ryder, Justin Hess, and Sadie Valeri.
In his work, Carlos aims to capture beauty and emotion through a realist depiction of objects and people.
Carlos's portraiture has been recognized at a national level, most recently for his painting Mazatleca, which placed 10th in the Portrait Society of America's 2016 members-only competition among more than one thousand entries.
